KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Football Association (Safa) acting President Datuk Peter Anthony (pic) said Sabah Tambadaus must get back to the winning track as quickly as possible following their recent two-match losing streak.
He said the 1-0 loss to Kelantan United in the FA Cup second round tie on April 3 and the 2-1 defeat to Selangor United in the Premier League match three days later came as a shock to the team.
“We are very disappointed with the two away losses which were obviously very unexpected as we had a six-match undefeated record before that.”
Peter, who was at the match against Selangor United, said the team lost simply because of poor finishing and their own mistakes which were punished by the opponents.
“However, we should not worry too much on the disappointment… instead we should focus more on the coming matches,” he said on Wednesday.
He hoped with the coming two matches to be played here, it will help the team in getting back their winning form.
“We hope the team will regain their Premier League winning form in the coming two home matches this week and next week.
“After the exit from FA Cup competition, our main focus now is to try and get promotion to the Super League next season,” he stressed.
Sabah will take on UiTM FC this Saturday at Likas Stadium and UKM at the same venue next week.
They are currently in second place with 14 points from four wins, two draws and two losses.
JDT II are one point ahead but with a match in hand while UiTM are in third place with 13 points. – GL Oh
