KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Tambadaus registered their first win of the season with style as they beat the previously unbeaten Terengganu II 3-1 at Likas Stadium on Saturday night. With only 2,000 odd fans attended the match ,the home team started with the same 11 players that faced Kelantan in the previous match.
It was a 50/50 opening 45 minutes and both teams were unable to find the opening until the 40th minutes when Ramzi Suffian broke the deadlock for the visitors with a fine volley inside the box to take a 1-0 lead in the first half. Despite the lack of home crowd, Jelius Ating’s boys came out fighting in the second half and within five minutes they equalised through new signing from Korea Park Taesu with a header from close range following a corner kick.
Another new signing this season Luka Milunovic who had scored two in his last two outings continued his scoring form by finding the net in the 66th minutes with a well taken free kick to grab the lead for Sabah. Substitute Ricco Nigel Millis who came in for the injured Luiz Carlos Junior then put the score beyond doubt with the third for Sabah in the 75th minutes with assist from Luka. With the win and their first three pints in the bag, Sabah now have four points from three matches played after their opening 1-2 loss to JDT II and the 3-3 draw with Kelantan in the second match. They will next take on Sarawak away at the state stadium next Saturday on February 23. - GL OH
