Keningau Sports Complex to host quadrangular tournament

 KOTA KINABALU: The Keningau Sports Complex will be hosting the Safa Cup quadrangular football tournament, which has been slated for Feb 6 and 7. The two-day tournament will see four teams taking part namely the state Reserve League squad, Keningau Selection (KDM Malaysia Football League 2014-15 champions),

Tenom Selection and KDMM FC, who will be making their FAM Cup debut this season. “This tournament will be used by the state Reserve League squad as well as KDMM FC’s preparations for the upcoming new season,” said KDM Malaysia President Datuk Peter Anthony, who is among the main sponsors of the tournament.

 The opening day of the tournament will see the state Reserve League squad take on Keningau Selection in the opening game on Saturday (4.30pm), followed by the tie between Tenom Selection against KDMM FC at 7pm. The final day on Sunday (Feb 7) will see the winning teams pitting for the championship tie with the losing teams involved in the third placing playoff, which will kick off at 4.30pm while the final at 7pm.

 “This tournament will also be an opportunity to test whether the venue is ready to stage the FAM Cup league, which is set to kick off on Feb 29,” Peter said.
