KOTA KINABALU: Safa Beaufort will be organising a Quadrangular Invitational Football Tournament, which has been scheduled for Feb 12 to 14.
Its President Dato Hj Abdul Razak Sulaiman said the participating teams are the state Under-19 squad, Bingkul FC (Beaufort), Asiau team (Sipitang) and Real Magrib (Labuan).
He said the tournament will be played on a one-group league format with the team earns the most points will be declared the champions.
Razak said the state Under-19 squad will be using the tournament as part of their preparations for the upcoming FAM Youth Cup tournament, which is scheduled to kick off on February 28.
He said it is also aimed at unearthing new talents besides giving players the opportunity to horn their skills and show off their talents.
The draw was conducted yesterday that will see Bingkul FC taking on Asiau team in the opening game on Feb 12. The match is scheduled to kick off at 2pm at the Beaufort Sports Complex field.
This will be followed by the tie between the state Under-19 squad and Real Magrib where they are set to square it up from 4pm at the same venue.
The following day (Feb 13) will see Bingkul FC taking on Real Magrib FC at the Beaufort Sports Complex field while the state Under-19 squad will take on Asiau team at the Sipitang Sports Complex field. Both matches will kick off at 4pm.
On the final day, the first match will see Asiau team slogging it up against Real Magrib at 2pm before the state Under-19 squad and Bingkul FC put the curtains down where their tie has been set for 4pm.
Razak said Sabah FA Deputy President II Datuk Lawrence Gimbang is expected to grace the closing ceremony and give away the prizes to the winners.
