He was given about 15 minutes of game time against Sime Darby FC where Sabah Rhinos went down 2-4 and played more than 45 minutes against PKNS that ended in a 0-0 draw. The 23-year-old Kota Kinabalu lad only played a small part for Sabah Rhinos during the 2014 season after aggravating an ankle injury in the FA Cup defeat to Kelantan. He only played in the Premier League opening two matches where he scored once in each of the ties.
However, Rozaimi then made a surprise return in April but he was limited to just 15 minutes of second half appearance before he went for an operation on his injured ankle. When contacted yesterday, Rozaimi said it was a relief to finally be back on the pitch, before adding that he needs a lot of hard work to do in order to return to his best shape. Commenting on his appearance, he said: “It was okay and I’m feeling great to be back.” He revealed that he missed football so much during his injury lay-off.
“It’s been a long time since I played and obviously I lacked confidence with the ball during the match, but I feel fine with my ankle and I think I’m about 90 per cent ready … all it takes is another 10 per cent to reach the required level.” He added: “The important thing for me now is to get to full fitness level and that was one of the reasons I played.”
“I hope to make a full recovery very soon to help the team for the 2015 season and hopefully get a promotion (to the Super League).” Rozaimi also believes that the current State squad under new manager George O’Callaghan has the potential to do well next season.
Sabah Rhinos returned home yesterday from a 12-day pre-season tour of China and Peninsular Malaysia. In China, they took part in the 2014 Yunnan Asean International Football Tournament where they finished fourth.
