KOTA KINABALU: Sabahawks Juniors aim to avenge their first-round defeat to Perak when they meet in a President’s Cup second round tie at the Perak Stadium in Ipoh today.
“We will be going for a win … that’s our goal and that’s our aim. We know it will be a tough task, but if we put in extra effort, I’m sure, our chances of getting a positive result is bright,” said Datuk Juil Nuatim.
The Sabah team manager added: “The season has not been convincing for us, but it is still not too late to make amends. I believe our chances of making the top eight, which means a place in the quarter-finals, is still pretty much within our reach.”
“So I hope the players go all out and go for nothing less than victory,” he added.
Sabahawks Juniors are currently 10th in the 18-team standings, and must try to avoid defeat in order to keep pace with the rest of the top teams.
With only 12 matches left to play into the season, they must start now to improve their six wins, 10 draws and four defeats record.
It will be a tall order facing the number two team in the league but a decent away record gives hope that the fight they bring would yield points.
The match kicks off at 4.45pm.
