KOTA KINABALU: In a much anticipated day, Sabahawks are set for a showdown talk with their employer, the Sabah FA tonight.
The talk is to finalise the FA’s earlier decision on shirkers before they begin to wield the axe on the culprits in the team.
Its Executive Secretary Hasbullah Yahya when contacted yesterday confirmed that the team management meeting will take place tonight at the FA’s office at Dewan Maksak in Likas here.
“It has been set for 8pm, and will be attended by all of the committees, except for Datuk Osman Jamal, who is on official duty overseas. In his absence, the meeting will be chaired by our Vice President II Datuk Yusof Kassim,” said Hasbullah.
The meeting was supposed to be held over the weekend, but due to the unavailability of its committees, it was fixed for tonight.
The main agenda will be the FA’s earlier decision of dropping 13 players, including its two foreign signings for the new season.
And it will be interesting to see if they stick to their earlier decision.
The only two players confirmed out for next season are imports – Australian Brendan Gan and Hendrik Helmke, who was signed midway through the season replacing the crocked Michael Baird – whose one-year deal will not be renewed.
It is believed that the two former national goalkeepers Azizon Abd Kadir and Syed Adney Syed Hussien are among those in the drop list and so is former national defender Ronny Harun and fellow defender Mohd Fariss Azlan Mat Isa who are injury prone.
More will follow suit after the meeting tonight as the FA is expected to announce the list of the players that have no place in the team.
