Kota Kinabalu: Australian import Michael Baird is back on his feet and played a full practice match against the reserve players at the Likas Stadium on Monday.
The striker who was out with a knee injury since the friendly match against the national team here last month had only started his training session barely a week ago.
There was no sign of any visible discomfort as he completed the one-hour match. He also managed to score a goal against the reserves as well.
The team was given the competitive match by coach Justin Ganai as one of the training sessions in preparation for their crunch Super League match against Selangor this Saturday.
However, with Alto Linus, Shahrudin Yaakub and goalkeeper Syed Adney Syed Husein currently training with the national team in Kuala Lumpur and Brandan Gan, Rosidin Wasli and Bobby Gonzales all missing the match through injury, the coach had to call up several President Cup players to fill the void.
Against the scratch team, the first eleven team registered an any easy 8-1 victory with Leopold Alfonso netting the only goal for the reserves.
