Kota Kinabalu: The State Super League players are reminded on the importance of discipline and team work by Chief Minister Datuk Musa Aman.
Musa, who is also the President of Sabah FA, told the players at a function held to unveil the team's home, away jerseys sponsored by Grace One for the new campaign as well as introducing the players at a leading hotel here on Saturday.
"Discipline and team work is the key for any team's success and I am sure if the players listen to the coach strictly they will achieve greater heights."
He said that with many new players now in the team, he hopes they will perform better this season as compared to the previous one.
"I know the team finished in the top ten last season but I hope they will achieve a higher target such as finishing in the top five position.'
He also reminded the players that they are not just playing for Sabah FA but the people of Sabah as a whole.
"It is very important they realise that they are playing for the people and positive results will mean a lot to them."
He added that with the two new Australian imports - Brandan Gan and Michael Baird as well as former exile Bobby Gonzalez now in the team, he believed their presence will lift the spirit of the team .
Musa also highlighted the success stories of the Sabah women football team where they have been crowned national champion for more than a decade.
Musa also cited the example of Sabah artistes competing in national competitions where they always finished in top three positions.
He said the team must follow the footsteps of these inspiring artistes and he again emphasised the importance of discipline in their success.
Meanwhile, during the function he also thanked Grace One for sponsoring the team's jerseys for the new season.
Also present at the function were all the top officials of Sabah FA including Deputy President Datuk Lawrence Gimbang, Vice President I Datuk Osman Jamal, Vice President II Datuk Yusof Datuk Kassim and Vice President III K.H. Tan.
