KOTA KINABALU: Sabah’s head coach, Jelius Ating was slightly delighted after his team edged Selangor United, 1 – 0 during their Premier League encounter at Likas Stadium, here on Saturday. When met after the match, he said even though his team squandered several good chances to score, he is delighted after the final whistle was blown as they picked up the all important three points.

“Yes, we do have a number of good chances to score some more goals but our main aim was achieved which is to obtain all three points without bothering how many goals scored. “The match tonight (Saturday) was tough especially going up against Selangor United who defeated us in our previous encounter, overall I am pleased with the one-goal victory as we continue to challenge for Super League promotion,” he said.

Serbian forward, Rodoljub Paunovic scored the only goal of the match which came as early as in the 6th minute, with the victory meant that the Tambadau retake second place in the league from UiTM FC. Jelius said that Sabah needs to maintain their focus on upcoming matches during the league’s second round and collect as much points from each one of them. “Our position at the moment in the league is still within reach and any slip ups will ensure other teams competing replacing us at that second place position.

“We will continue to work hard week in week out to maintain our winning performance and achieve our main objective set this season which is Super League promotion next season,” said the former state defender. Sabah will resume their Premier League challenge with two consecutive away matches with the first going up against UKM FC on May 17 followed by Penang on May 25.
