KOTA KINABALU: Sabah’s Reserve League squad recorded impressive wins during their pre-season friendly matches as the team prepare for the President’s Cup campaign kicking off end of this month.
The State’s second-string team handled by Justin Ganai thrashed the Public Works Department (JKR), 8-0 in their friendly match played at the Likas Sukma field, here on Wednesday.
Five goals were scored during the first half by Sabah as JKR, coached by former State player, Yap Wai Loon were left helpless in the second half as the Tambadau juniors scored another three.
The victory gave the State team their second pre-season win where recently they defeated their younger brothers, Sabah Under-19 squad, 3-1 at the Likas Sports Complex synthetic field.
Meanwhile, Justin responded that it was still too soon to see the team’s full potential, especially since there are several players currently under trials with the team.
He hopes that the players will continue their good pre-season start as the team aim to achieve a top-four finish in their group in order to qualify for the President’s Cup knockout stage.
