KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah Reserve League squad boosted their confidence ahead of the President Cup season with a hat-trick of pre-season victories. The State Under-21 team dominated Tuaran en route to their biggest victory so far after trouncing Tuaran 9 – 0 on Sunday at the Likas Sports Complex synthetic field, near here.

Before yesterday’s encounter, Justin Ganai’s boys also thrashed Kota Belud with the same scoreline during their meeting at Likas Sukma field, near here on Thursday. Lastly, the Tambadau Juniors defeated KDM Kota Marudu, 2 – 0 in their friendly match last Tuesday at Likas Sukma field to make it a perfect five victories during their pre-season preparations. The reserve league squad registered two victories last month where they ripped apart the Public Works Department (JKR) 8 – 0 before comfortably defeating their younger brothers Sabah Under-19, 3 – 1.

According to head coach, Justin, the matches played will influence greatly on the team’s foundation as he and assistant head coach, Johnny Dominicus are eager to shape the best starting eleven for their opening match later this month. Sabah start their President Cup Group A campaign with back-to-back home matches where they play Perlis at Likas Stadium on February 21 followed with Pahang four days later (February 25). The team then travel to face UiTM FC at UiTM Shah Alam Stadium in Selangor on February 28 as Justin and Co. prepare for a tough opening week.
