“If we are given the opportunity to do so, of course we are ready to taste action and we will select players from the 16 teams competing in the inaugural KDM Football League,” Peter said when met after witnessing the final match of the KDM Malaysia Football League FA Cup finals between KDM Kota Belud and KDM Papar.
“At the moment, we are waiting for the approval from Sabah FA and FAM. And once we get the green light, we will start our preparation immediately. In a related development, Peter said they will continue to stage the KDM Football League next year. He said this is to give local youths an avenue to showcase their talents. Through this league, Peter said, it is also their hope to unearth new talents in the game.
“The league will continue with its second season next year so that youth, especially from rural areas, can show off their talents at a higher level. Commenting on the highly successful inaugural league, Peter said that they have achieved their targets. He said among the main objectives was to form a formidable and quality football squad. “As we have seen tonight (Saturday) as well as throughout the one-year competition, the participating teams showed top level quality and superb commitment.
“It is something that we have hoped from the beginning of the league and I’m happy that we have met our overall target, which is very encouraging. “From our overall observation of the just concluded league, I believe there are a lot of good talented players,” he said.
