Kota Kinabalu: Head coach Mike Mulvey is looking forward to the friendly against Super League team Perak at the Likas Stadium Tuesday night starting at 8.15pm.
He said the team needs games and the match is timely for the players to get rid of the rustiness.
"It is timely. Obviously we have been training very hard and we now need games. "We have been playing some internal games but that is not the same, so the game tomorrow night is probably important for ourselves and Perak because of the break that we had this season."
The game is likely to feature the potential starting line-up in their game against Negeri Sembilan on June 19.
"I am looking forward for a good heat up hopefully we can get 90 minutes for quite a number of players, I will probably be using 15 or 16 players tomorrow and get ourselves ready for the big game against Negeri.
The coach also praised the team for their positive attitude in training during the season break.
" I have to give credit to the players because they have worked extremely hard as I demanded a lot from them physically and mentally. "It is a bit like a mini pre-season where we worked extremely hard and that is because the pre-season previously wasn't adequate so we tried to addressed that.
"Their attitude has been spot on and I can't speak highly enough for their application, determination and enthusiasm, and what we are looking forward to now is good push towards the end of the season. He said it is left for the people to judge as to how far the team have improved since he took over.
"My aim is very clear and that is to prepare the team as best as I can and for everything that we are aiming to do. "I think some of the football we played were excellent but at the same time it has been a bit naive because we have conceded a lot of silly goals.
"The challenge is very simple for the team going forward. If we can cut out those mistakes that we made then we could really be competitive in the second half of the season."
