FRIENDLY SERIES … a State Reserve League player (right) is challenged by a Brunei opponent during the friendly tie at the Likas Stadium on Saturday. Brunei won 1-0.
KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Cebagoo FC will have a first taste of an international match when they take on the Sea Games-bound Brunei national team in a friendly tie at the Likas Stadium tonight (8pm). “This will be a good experience for the boys by taking on a national team,” club president Mohd Joh Wid said yesterday.

“And despite the big gap between us, we will try our very best to provide them with a good match. “We have been doing continuous training since the season ended, and basically, our players are quite in a good shape. “Furthermore, we have brought in more experience to the team. We now have Jufrey (Omopor), Leopold (Alfonso Otong) and Razlan (Oto) training with the team.

They will play a role whether a bit-part or full time tomorrow,” he added. “Their vast experience will surely do us good, and I hope they can lead the way for our less experienced players. “Although this is just a friendly match, I’m expecting all the players to give their level best,” said Joh. “Hopefully we can rope in more experienced players soon although nothing has been concluded yet.” Brunei are on a two series friendly tour of Sabah. They defeated the State Reserve League squad 1-0 on Saturday.
