Penang edge Cebagoo FC

Daily Express

Kota Kinabalu: Sabah Cebagoo FC lost narrowly to Penang by a single goal in their FAM League clash on Sunday. The team who were expected a thrashing by the unbeaten state team raised to the occasion and put up a spirited display and even had a missed penalty as they controlled the match especially in the latter stages.

The team fell behind in the 22nd minute after a mix-up by the keeper and the defenders and the team had a chance to draw level in the 65th minute but captain Reithudin Ag Emran missed his target instead. Coach Razali Zinin when contacted was pleased with the players' attitude this time despite the defeat. "I have nothing to complain about the players today apart from the goal conceded as the keeper was way off his line and there were three defenders at the time as well. I hope the players will learn from the mistake."

"The team played very well and we have three chances to score including the penalty but luck was not with us today as Reithudin also had a header which missed the cross bar by inches and Rainol Masaat also narrowly missed the target as well." "The Penang team despite their reputation was unable to trouble us at all throughout the match and only opted for long range shots."

"I am sure if the players can maintain their momentum and keep their feet firmly on the ground, there should not be any problem in their next match against Tumpat FA on April 7." It was the second loss on the road for the team and fourth overall with the team winning three games and drawing once so far for a points total of 10.
