Maxsius scores in Harimau Muda B win

Daily Express

Kota Kinabalu: Maxsius Musa's goal helped Harimau Muda B to get their first win in the 2013 Singapore S-league on Tuesday. The 20-year-old Sabahan who was one of the stars in the victorious Sukma squad last season netted the opening goal in the 9th minute to lead the national second tier junior team to a 2-1 win against Woodland Welling FC.

The goal was also the first for Harimau Muda B who are making their debut in the league. In their first match played on Feb 22, they lost 0-1 to Albirex Niigata. Their next match is against Tanjong Pagar on March 5. Meanwhile, his former teammates here are chasing their third win in a row in the current President Cup competition as they take on Bukit Jalil Sports School (SSBJ) today (Thursday) at the Likas Stadium.

It will be a big test for the new look defence against the well prepared SSBJ who have been together as a team for years. Suspensions to key players has left coach Justin Ganai with no choice other than to change his consistent backline since the start of the season. He is forced to reshuffle the defence with captain Dendy Lowa having to sit out a one match suspension with his third yellow card received while playing for the seniors against PDRM last week while his replacement against the PDRM team on Sunday Benerlys Raim is also out with a two-match suspension after a straight red in the match.

Although the final decision may only come today, the untested Mohd Badrul Affendy Mohd Fadzli looks most likely to be given the responsibility to take over the central defensive role. The midfield will also see a reshuffle with Sabri Sahar back after two matches out with a strained muscle to his leg and he will partner Fread Filemon Saih who is taking over the role of former captain Didie Arizal who may have played his last match for the juniors as he is wanted by the seniors for the match against Johor this Friday.

There will be no changes on both flanks with Anwari Mohd Tajuddin and Hafizan Jahar continuing their roles to support the striking duo of Eyo Mathew and Rexjeson Pitrus with Zul Manshah Aling who has just returned after sitting out a match suspension starting on the bench. Endre S. Tipay will again man the post while number two Robson Rendy Rining is back on the bench after recovering from a recent appendix surgery.
