Only one team from the play-offs will earn a slot for next season's 12-team Super League. Rozaimi, who scored 10 goals at the recent AFC Under-22 Qualifiers in Yangon, played an instrumental role in Sabah's first ever gold medal win in the Malaysia Games football competition on Sunday.
Sabah FA (SFA) secretary Alijus Sipil hopes Rozaimi will make an impression today. "It is important that Sabah remain in the Super League. We have beefed-up our squad with three players from the Malaysia Games squad and also hired a new coach for this campaign," said Alijus when contacted in Kota Kinabalu yesterday.
Coach David McCreery, a former Manchester United midfielder, had a good start last weekend by steering Sabah to a 3-1 win over Negri Sembilan in their final league match. "I believe our team have the depth to win tomorrow (today) provided they play to their potential. If we can beat Negri then we should be able to gain a good result against Kedah," Alijus added.
