ANOTHER DEFEAT … Sabah's Juffry Omopor (red) blocks the ball during their Super League clash against Selangor PKNS at the Likas Stadium last night. |
Playing in front of a less than 1,000 fans, their worst turnout so far this season, Sabah failed to live up to expectations, as they looked hapless without any direction throughout the tie. The simple reason being they failed to recover from their annihilating 9-0 loss to Singapore Lions XII last Saturday.
Visiting PKNS scored the opener during a goalmouth melee through former national striker Mohd Nizaruddin Yusof before Helmi Remeli added the second in the 64 minute with a header. Then three minutes later, Rudie Ramli scored the third with a fine solo effort before slotting home a powerful shot that defeated the hapless Irwan Jamil.
With 10 minutes remaining on the clock, Sabah were reduced to 10 men after Zul Mansshah Aling, who made his Super League debut, was given the marching orders for a second yellow card offence. From the ensuing freekick, PKNS scored the fourth with Md Fadhil Hashim putting his name on the scoresheet.
Midway through the game the fans showed their frustrations by putting up a banner calling on the Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission to investigate the Sabah FA, obviously regarding the team’s defeat to the Lions. The fans were also heard singing … wanting the Sabah FA management to step down. Next Sabah take on Kelantan on Saturday away.
