KOTA KINABALU: Safa Kota Belud captured the Allianz Junior Football Camp (AJFC) Malaysia League 2019 Sabah title after they edged Karamunich Junior 1-0 in the final played at Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) Stadium, Saturday.
They took home RM3,500 cash plus trophy and medals while the losing finalist received RM2,000 cash plus medals.
Third place went to Sipitang Star who defeated last year’s champion, JJ FC Tenom to collect RM1,000 cash plus medals, and RM500 cash plus medals for JJ FC players.
Meanwhile, the League’s Best Player and Best Goalkeeper awards went to Kota Belud’s Mohd Aiddil Azmir Bakri and Freal Rejuel Domuni respectively.
Muhd Adzrie Idzlean Syak of Karamunich Junior was named the best player in the final and top scorer award went to Jeremy Jerom Juikul with 12 goals, while Safa Penampang received the Fair Play trophy.
Kota Belud’s head coach, Rumzi Ramlee @ Romzi gave credit to his players for implementing the right strategy that limited their opponents’ scoring chances.
Team manager, Budi Rekain on the other hand, expressed his gratitude to all the support given by team officials and the parents, and he also praised the players’ fighting spirit.
He called on his players who are selected to represent Sabah in the Grand Finals to be held at National University of Malaysia (UKM) in Bangi, Selangor on July 4 to maintain their discipline both on and off the pitch.
