Another loss for Sabah’s U-19 squad

New Sabah Times

By UMESH RAJAN KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Under-19’s rough start continues after losing their third match of the Youth Cup campaign, going down 1 – 3 to AMD Under-16 at Padang Utama AMD in Gambang, Pahang, on Sunday. Radzee Eqmal Ramli gave the Tambadau juniors a half time lead when he pounced the ball into the back of the net during the third minute of added time which gave Sabah a glimmer of hope of bouncing back after their 0 – 4 home loss last Wednesday.

However, Billyton Vun Kit Ming’s boys were unable to hold to their advantage in the last 10 minutes of the match when the home side equalised in the 80th minutes. The match then lop sided in the favour of AMD Under-16 in the dying minutes when they scored the winning goal in the 90th minutes before killing off Sabah with a third three minutes later. Billyton was left speechless after the match and only said that there are problems and mistakes made by his troops where they will rectify the problems when they fly back home.

“We have many issues to solve if we want to salvage our season as there is still long way to go and we still have time to bounce back from our poor start,” he said. As a result, Sabah maintained their position with only three points collected so far from four matches while AMD Under-16 has seven points from three matches and has yet to taste defeat in Group B. Sabah will host neighbour, Sarawak at Penampang Stadium on March 10 for their next group match.
