KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Under-19 football team notched another win as they continue to improve slowly to prepare for the upcoming Youth Cup 2018 season kicking off next month.
They defeated Kinabatangan comprehensively, 3-0 at Likas Stadium synthetic field on Monday to go along with their 2-1 victory over Tuaran Chief Minister Cup squad last week.
Head coach, Mohd Aiyyman Johny Abdullah said that his players performed substantially better than the match against Tuaran with smooth fluid movements on the pitch, technically and tactical wise.
“However, there is still some room for improvement as the players are all slightly lacking in match fitness but we are rectifying that now given how crucial this month will be.
“With the Youth Cup kicking off next month (February), we are rushing to confirm our main 18-man squad as well as deciding on the tactical strategies suitable before refining the players’ performances,” he said, when contacted, yesterday.
Up next, the state Under-19 team will play against their older brothers, the state President’s Cup squad in their third friendly match on January 6 at the Likas Sports Complex.
