Kota Kinabalu: Sabah Cebagoo FC will be playing for a win against Melayu Kedah in their FAM league match at the UMS Stadium today.
Club President Mohd Jo Wid and adviser Datuk Mohd Hasnol Ayub recently held a meeting with the team officials and players and urged them to produce their best to get the maximum points.
Coach Razali Zinin said with the pep talk from the two supremos, he believed it will drive the players to go all out and repeat their success over the team whom they beat 1-0 away in the early season.
The team are currently in 10th place with only 12 points collected after 13 matches played.
Although mathematically they could still catch second place PBAPP who have 29 points with six matches to play, but that is an unlikely scenario assuming that PBAPP will lose all their remaining matches and besides there are eight other teams above Cebagoo vying for the last spot to get promotion as well.
The team are not getting the desired result since their maverick captain Reithudin Ag Emran last appeared for them against Tumpat FA back in April 7 which ended in a 1-1 draw.
They last tasted victory on March 17 with a 2-0 win over YBU FC and since then they have lost five and drew three matches and collected only three points out of possible 24.
They also conceded 13 goals and only scored three in the process.
According to Razali, the team played very well in the last match in Kuantan and could have won the match if the strikers were clinical.
"We had a serious chat before the trip and I warned them the consequences of the management's decision to pull the team out of the league next season and it seemed to work."
"I was very happy with the attitude displayed on the pitch and I hope the performance will give them great confidence and belief and a springboard for us to go on and finish the season really strongly.'
