SABAH CEBAGOO FC put up a much better show but it was still not enough to earn them a victory against Kuantan FA in the FAM League.
Hosts Kuantan FA scored late in Temerloh last night for a slim 1-0 win, thus stretching the East Malaysian side’s winless streak to eight games.
Despite the defeat, head coach Razali Zinin saw some encouraging signs from his depleted side who were missing seven of their regular starters.
“The end result was dissapointing but unlike the past few games, we went down fighting.
“The players showed courage, determination and spirit and they kept communicating with each other throughout the match.
“All these have been missing in our previous fixtures. I think it has got something to do with what was said prior to leaving for Pahang – it probably made them think of their future with the club,” he said when contacted yesterday.
Razali also said the difference between the sides was the finishing touch as Kuantan FA converted one of their only two real chances while Cebagoo fired blanks despite creating more.
Cebagoo remained in the bottom half of the 11-team league on 12 points having won three, drawn three and lost eight.
Up next for the FAM League debutants are Kedah Malays at the Universiti Malaysia Sabah Stadium on May 26.
