SABAH CEBAGOO FC president Mohd Joh Wid urged the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) to improve the standard of refereeing in the country.
Joh made the call after a hand ball incident went unpunished in Cebagoo’s FAM League home 2-3 home defeat to Tentera Darat today.
“I support TMJ’s call that the standard of refereeing in the country must improve,” he said referring to the Crown Prince of Johor, Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim’s recent statement.
“The ATM TD (Tentera Darat) defender clearly handled the ball inside the box but the referee did not award penalty in the 60th minute,” he lamented.
In the incident, Mohd Hafizul went to ground and handled the ball in an attempt to cut out a cross from the overlapping Gerd Smith.
By then, Cebagoo FC were trailing 1-3 after Badrul Hisham (5th minute), Nazri (17th minute) and captain Sharil (57th minute) had scored for the visitors.
Cebagoo’s goals were from Billyton Vun (21st minute) and later on, an own goal from Hafizul (82nd minute).
The hosts also ended the game with 10-man when captain Mohd Reithuddin Emran was sent off for two bookable offences in the 71st minute.
The defeat left Cebagoo with six points from five games having won twice and lost three.
