Kota Kinabalu: The right attitude from the players won the all important one point for Sabah against unbeaten Sarawak in the derby match played at the Sarawak Stadium in Kuching on Friday evening according to David McCreery.
The coach when contacted upon his arrival from Kuching on Saturday revealed that the players all played above expectation and deserved the hard earned point.
'It was an open game and both teams had their chances to score.
We could have scored in the first half while the final 15 minutes or so they were all over us and I am glad that the team stayed tight and managed to thwart their attempts."
"I must say the players' attitude was spot on and the defence was good and even Koh Troare who was employed as a lone striker upfront also played his part well."
"We managed to stay unbeaten for the last three games and it is always a good feeling going into the next game knowing that you have played well previously and I certainly hope the players will keep up the momentum and continue to improve."
He also attributed the new found positive attitude down to the joint effort by the management and the coaches who have all worked together as an unit to ensure the progress of the team.
He added that the team will take a short break and will be back in training on Thursday.
Their next match is against Perlis on March 29 at the Stadium Utama Negeri in Kangar.
Meanwhile, the FAM match between Sabah Cebagoo FC and ATM Tentara Barat at the UMS Stadium today which is scheduled to be held at 4.15pm is still hanging in the balance as the visiting team was understood to have asked for a postponement.
According to one Sabah FA official, they are still waiting for the confirmation letter from FAM although they have received the letter from ATM themselves.
Club President Mohd Jo Wid when contacted was also unsure about the match but was told by Sabah FA to get themselves ready as usual.
However, he made it clear that if he has his way he does not want the three points awarded if the ATM team fails to turn up today, but it is all up to FAM according to him.
" I would very much like to see the match postpone to another date as some of the ATM team members may be involved in the on-going 'Operasi Daulat' in Lahad Datu and we must take into consideration their predicament."
The match will be debutant Cebagoo FC fifth match of the season and they will be hoping to bounce back from their 0-1 defeat at the hand of Penang PBAPP in their last match played last Wednesday.
So far the team has not been able to take off in full throttle after their impressive 2-0 first home win against Melaka.
Since then they have lost twice including the previous match and the 0-2 home defeat by Pahang Kuantan FA and an away 1-0 win against PB Melayu Kedah.
