SABAH’S lack of firepower cost them once again as they were held to a scoreless draw in the President’s Cup tie against Johor today.
The stalemate at the Likas Stadium extended the Junior Sabahawks’ inability to score to 270 minutes, having also drawn 0-0 with Negri Sembilan and Bukit Jalil Sports School.
Head coach Justin Ganai, however, does not think the problem lies with his strikers.
“We have a problem in midfield … (the strikers) are not getting enough support up front.
“We need to rectify the weakness fast because … one point from a home game is not good,” he said after the match.
“The team may need reinforcement. We have five players on stand-by and are currently are training with us.
“We have slots to be filled in the team but we may need to wait until April before we can register them,” he added.
Benerly Raim had the first chance for the homesters after 16 minutes but his shot went straight to the keeper.
Further efforts from Hafizan Jahar and Zul Mansyah Aling were off target while Sabri Sahar’s shot hit the side netting late on.
After nine games, Sabah are in the middle pack of the league on 14 points having won three times, drawn five and lost once.
