KOTA KINABALU: Sabahawks Juniors fought their way back from two goals down before settling for a point after holding Kedah to a two-all draw in a President’s Cup challenge at the Darul Aman Stadium in Alor Setar yesterday.
They were trailing 0-2 in the opening 45 minutes to the host before pulling one back early in the second half through Sabri Sahar’s spot kick.
Then Hafizan Jahar scored the equaliser for the Sabahawks by connecting a low cross from Jenius Karib.
“We got to be satisfied to settle for a draw considering the fact that we were 2-0 down in the first half.
“It was an equally contested tie. We conceded two silly goals, but the players made amends in the second half by putting up a much better performance.
We also created more chances, and managed to score two,” said head coach Justin Ganai when contacted yesterday.
“I’m also happy to see the fighting spirit shown by the players. Despite trailing 0-2, they kept on fighting until the final whistle,” he added.
This was the Sabahawks Juniors second away tie of the season, after kick starting their challenge on the road with a 1-0 victory against Kelantan.
However, the team is yet to win at home after being held to a one-all draw by Melaka in the opener before being blanked 2-0 by Perak prior to the Kedah trip.
They take on Kuala Lumpur at home next Thursday.
