SABAH edged Police 1-0 in the President’s Cup which saw both teams end the match with 10-men at the Pulapol field in Kuala Lumpur today. Gerald Mojikon turned match winner for the Junior Sabahawks by scoring in the last minute of the regulation time.

The midfielder was the quickest to react after the referee waived play on as striker Rexjeson Pitirus was in an offside position but not interfering with play when Awangku Hamizan made the initial pass. “It was a relief to win today. We played almost three quarters of the match with one player less after Benerlys Raim received a straight red in the 28th minute,” said Justin Ganai after the match.

Police too had a player sent off with 10 minutes remaining. The victory ensured Sabah remain unbeaten in three maches in their travels having beaten Kelantan 1-0 and drawing 2-2 with Kedah. At home, Sabah drew 1-1 against Kedah, lost 2-0 to Perak and beat Kuala Lumpur 2-0. Sabah, on 11 points, will play Bukit Jalil Sports School on Feb 28.
