A NEW manager has taken over the Sabahawks who kick off their FA Cup opener at Likas Stadium in Kota Kinabalu tomorrow. Sabah FA vice-president Datuk Yusof Mohd Kassim took over from interim manager Alijus Sipil who is also the secretary-general two days ago.

The Sabahawks will take on Super League outfit KL Felda United FC and the return leg is set for Feb 26. “My appointment as interim manager was only temporary because of my work commitments,” said Alijus who is attached with the City Hall. “The team manager’s position requires full commitment and attention.

The FA decided that the post be given to Datuk Yusof,” he said. Sabah are seventh in the 12-team Premier League after five games. They beat KL Spa Putrajaya FC 2-1 and NS Betaria FC 2-0 in the first two home games but lost to KL Sime Darby 1-3 and Kuala Lumpur 2-3 away. Last Monday they suffered their first home defeat to Kedah 0-2.
