Rhinos unhappy over KL defeat
Kota Kinabalu: A defeat against Kuala Lumpur in their second match in the Premier League was not what Sabah had in mind.
The 0-1 defeat at the KLFA Stadium in Cheras on Tuesday has left the Rhinos team manager, Rahman Zakaria a disappointed man.
"This is not the result that we wanted. It should have been a win É winning would have made a good start for the year," he said when contacted in Kuala Lumpur on Wednesday.
"But there is nothing we can do about it. What we can do is concentrate, focus and keep training harder for our next matches," he said.
Rahman said there is still a long way to go but stressed Sabah would have to bounce back quickly "because we can't keep losing points as this would mean losing our fans support as well as our pride."
"We cannot take things lightly although we have played only our second match in the league. I should say now is the best time to start winning and collecting points," he pointed out.
"We have stated earlier that this season we are aiming for a promotion to the Super League É we cannot afford to lose our momentum."
Rahman however said he was delighted to see several of their new signings playing well in the last two matches.
"I think Charles Obi has been doing brilliantly. He scored two goals in the opener and against Kuala Lumpur he created a few scoring chances for his teammates," he said, adding, "this is the spirit and determination that we want in every player."
Chow Chee Wing is also doing well in the team, he said. "He has adapted well with the rest of the players. I would say that Chow and Obi are the most outstanding players during the last two matches."
Rahman said for their next match, he wants to see his chargers win. Sabah will take on Armed Forces on Friday (Jan 5) at the Likas Stadium.
