KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Tambadaus led by Sabah Football Association (Safa) acting president Datuk Peter Anthony will play a charity match against a Keningau selection at Keningau Stadium this Friday (March 15), starting at 7pm.
Sabah team manager Henry Saimpon (pic) said the match is held in aid of two former State players from the interior, Paulus Jimit who suffered a stroke in 2015 and Jelius Arurung who has lost his vision due to kidney disease.
“We will first pay a morning visit to Paulus Jimit at his home in Tambunan before we proceed to Keningau for the match to be played at night, and the public are most welcome to support the match for charitable cause.
“This programme is initiated by Datuk Peter Anthony to assist former players who had brought glory to the State and are currently ill,” said Henry.
He said the match will also serve as part of the team’s training session during the three-week break.
The former State player added that they are currently in talks with several Super League outfits to have friendly matches in the Peninsula next week.
“It is important to have some warm-up matches against Super League teams to maintain our momentum so that the players are not affected by this long break.” – GL Oh
