KOTA KINABALU: Unlike their seniors, the State Reserve League squad will kick off their 2014 President’s Cup challenge on home soil. They have been drawn in Group B in the two-group U-21 competition that also comprises Melaka, Terengganu T-Team, Perak, Kuala Lumpur, Police, Johor Darul Takzim II, Pahang, Tunku Mahkota Ismail Sports School Johor and Penang. Group A is made up of Kelantan, SSMP, Perlis, Armed Forces, Selangor, Negeri Sembilan, Terengganu, KL Felda United FC, Kedah and Sarawak.

Currently under the watchful eyes of newly appointed head coach Burhan Ajui, the State squad will take on Pahang in the season opener at the Likas Stadium on January 27. Their first away tie will be to Johor Darul Takzim II three days later. The first round of the league is on March 10, while the second round will resume on March 13 with the final matches of the group challenge scheduled for April 24, 2014.

Unless there are changes to the format, the top four teams in each group will make it into the next phase of the competition.
