Kota Kinabalu: The Sabah President Cup squad escaped with a point after a goalless draw with Sarawak at the Kuching Stadium on Thursday.
Justin Ganai's boys who were tipped to win the match with ease were stretched by the home team and had goalkeeper Robson Rendy Rening to thank for when he saved a one-on-one shot towards the end of the first half.
Despite having much of the possession, the midfield and the strikers yet again failed to make their moves count in the final third.
Even with the home team reduced to 10-man after one of their players was sent off with 15 minutes to go Sabah still could not penetrate the opposition's goal and even had a scare when one of Sarawak's attempts hit the post.
The draw was the eighth of the season for Sabah and they have collected a total of 23 points with five wins, eight draws and three losses. They will end their first round tie away against Pahang on Monday (April 15).
