Sabah drop points again with seventh draw

sports247.my

SABAH are fast becoming the draw specialists in the President’s Cup after conceding a late equaliser against Perlis in Kangar today. The Junior Sabahawks opened the scoring through striker Zul Manshah Aling’s deflected shot just before halftime but could not find the all-important second goal to put the game to bed.

Perlis, instead, drew level from the penalty spot in the third minute of injury time. By then, Sabah had been reduced to 10 men after Rawilson Batuil was sent off for two bookable offences with 20 minutes remaining. “We have too many drawn games … it was our seventh in the current campaign and it is hurting the team. “It is 14 points lost already, which is like losing five matches,” lamented head coach Justin Ganai.

“This is the problem when we do not take our chances well. We had two good chances which went begging,” Justin said after striker Rexjeson Pitirus failed to find the target in a one-on-one situation twice. The outcome of the game saw not only Sabah held for the seventh time but it stretched their winless run to six matches. Sabah remain in the bottom half of the 18-team league on 16 points and will next face Selangor at home on Thursday.
