Kota Kinabalu: The Sabah M-League team lost their first friendly match in the Peninsula to Selangor team 0-3 on Wednesday afternoon. The team was two goals down in the first half before they conceded another in the second half. Coach David McCreery when contacted said it was a good experienced for the team in preparation for the new season.
"The players all tried hard and started very well until the penalty that resulted in the first goal." "There was nothing much to expect as it is a relatively new team and we definitely need more matches to work on before the start of the season." He disclosed that 27 players were used during the match in order for him to gauge each individual's ability on the pitch against a very strong team.
He also refused to use tiredness as the excuse as the team was understood to have travelled on an early morning 6am flight to Kuala Lumpur on the same day that may have resulted in most of the players being unable to produce their best. The team's next match is against T-Team today (Thursday) followed by their final match against Police tomorrow (Friday).
