Kota Kinabalu: FAM had recruited Maxsius Musa for the Harimau Muda B 2013 squad and he will not be playing for the state President Cup squad next season as early reported.
The youngster is now with his new team for training cum competition stint in Turkey under new coach Razip Ismail.
His name was among the list of players that has been released on Thursday that were supposed to feature in the state President Cup campaign next season. The Keningau lad who played as an attacking midfielder for the state in the Sukma winning squad was one of the six players from the state to have caught the attention of the selection committee in the national wide search here more than two months ago.
However, he was the only one called up for a final trial in October conducted by then head coach Ismail Ibrahim who had since joined Johor FA.
Maxsius first burst into the scene in the President Cup early last season with his darting runs and powerful shots.
Earlier in the campaign, he was one of the leading scorers for the team but a hamstring injury midway through the campaign derailed his progress.
Although he recovered towards the end of the season, he was unable to produce his best but was still able to score vital goals and helped the team win the Sukma gold.
At the start of the early M-league team training session, he was one of the few juniors that had won the praise of David McCreery and for reason unknown to David he was never asked to return to the team after a short team break.
A chance meeting with David during the state squad tour in Keningau had the coach convinced him to return for the team training session in Kota Kinabalu.
And as the youngster begin to make his mark under the guidance of David, he was asked to attend the Harimau Muda B trial again without the knowledge of David.
Meanwhile, the list caused another confusion when Sabri Sahar was named as one of the players to be registered for the President Cup squad as well.
It contradicted early reports that he will be signed up by the Sabah FA with the senior squad as mentioned by Vice President I Datuk Osman Jamal at a press conference held more than a week ago.
