Tricky trip

New Sabah Times

KOTA KINABALU: Sabahawks Junior are all fired up in maintaining their unbeaten run when they take on Johor away in a President’s Cup Group A challenge at the Kluang Municipal Council field today.

Unlike the seniors, who are still struggling to find their momentum, the Sabahawks Junior are flying high having registered 11 victories and two draws after 13 matches into the season.
This will be their first away tie in the second round.

Last week on Thursday, they scored an easy 3-1 over Police in the second round opener.
And Juil Nuatim wants his charges to keep their unbeaten run intact.
“The mood in the camp is excellent, and they are really looking forward for this clash. As usual, we will go there to try to win the game, but still, I won’t be complaining if we can nick a point from Johor,” the Sabah team manager said.

Sabahawks Junior edged the southern State side 2-1 in the opener last February. But this time around it’ll be a different ball game.
“I believe both sides have improved after so many matches. And we know this trip is going to be a tricky one. So we must give our best in order to get the result,” Juil added.

“As long as they can display the kind of spirit they have been showing in our previous matches, I’m confident we will get what we want.
Meanwhile, head coach Johnny Dominicus said he will be without midfielder Aldrine Agus for the clash as the latter will be attending an interview with the Police on Monday.

Leopold Alfonso Otong is not making the trip but Johnny welcomes back Umareng Bacok from suspension, first choice custodian Endre S. Tipay, who missed the Police tie due to fever and Sabri Sahar will also make the trip.

The rest of the squad is intact as when they took on the Police.
“We are optimistic of doing the job. The players are in good spirit, and we will go there to try to win the tie,” Johnny said.
