Rhinos not in rush for imports

Daily Express

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Rhinos will not rush into signing players to fill its foreign imports quota, said Sabah Football Association (Safa) acting president Datuk Peter Anthony on Tuesday night. Peter, who is also Infrastructure Development Minister was at the Likas Stadium accompanied by newly appointed team manager Henry Saimpon and other Safa officials to watch the team training session.

“We have to be very careful in selecting import players to ensure that we can get the best for the team. We have no problem on the local players but there is still time for foreign imports,” he said. Sabah are currently still looking for three players to fill up the available quota with Croatian Rodoljub Paunovic from last season still having a contract with the team. So far more than 10 players have turned up for the trial and only South Korean Heo Jae-Nyeong who played for the team in the beginning of last season is still around.

The latest to turn up on Tuesday are English striker Hakeem Araba striker who previously played for Finland first division outfit PS Kemi and Serbian defender Milan Nikolic who last played in the Philippines league, while another defender Matej Bagaric from Croatia was set to show up Wednesday.
